Corporate Bank Account Opening for a Trading Company
How we helped a trading company prepare for UAE bank onboarding and open a corporate account for international payments
Client Request
The client approached us with the task of opening a corporate bank account in the UAE for a trading company working with international suppliers and buyers. The business model involved purchasing goods in one jurisdiction, selling them to other countries, making payments in foreign currency, and processing regular transactions under commercial contracts.At the time of the request, the company had already been registered. However, the client faced detailed bank requirements to confirm real business activity: a description of the trading model, information about suppliers and buyers, proof of source of funds, contracts, invoices, and an explanation of the company’s economic connection with the UAE.
Limitations
In 2026, banks pay particularly close attention to trading companies, as such structures are often associated with cross-border payments, multiple currencies, logistics, and enhanced compliance requirements.The key challenges included:
- the company was newly established and did not yet have a long operating history;
- some counterparties were located outside the UAE;
- the bank needed to understand the supply chain, the movement of goods, and the flow of funds;
- the source of the owner’s funds and the business reputation had to be confirmed;
- it was important to demonstrate that the company had a clear economic rationale and was not created solely for transit payments.
How We Organized the Process
We started by analyzing the company, its trading model, the geography of suppliers and buyers, the expected turnover, payment currencies, and planned transaction routes.Then we prepared the company’s banking profile: we described the business activity, ownership structure, the owner’s role, sources of financing, expected account operations, and the business connection with the UAE.
A separate part of the work was collecting and structuring the documents for the bank: corporate documents, the beneficiary’s passport details and CV, proof of source of funds, agreements with counterparties, invoices, logistics description, and the commercial model.
We also helped the client prepare answers to potential compliance questions in advance: who the suppliers were, who the buyers were, what goods were being traded, how the margin was formed, why payments were routed through the UAE company, and what operations were planned for the account.
After the documents were prepared, we selected a bank that best matched the client’s profile and trading activity. We then supported the application process, communication with the bank, and responses to additional requests.
Result
- The company successfully passed the bank onboarding process and opened a corporate account in the UAE.
- The client received a working financial infrastructure for international payments with suppliers and buyers, receiving revenue, paying invoices, and further developing the trading business.
- Thanks to the preliminary preparation, we reduced the risk of rejection, avoided chaotic bank requests, and presented the company as a clear, transparent, and commercially justified business.
