What international students should check in practice

• The same school qualification can lead to different admission routes. One university may offer direct entry to Year 1, while another may require a Foundation programme.
• A conditional offer is not the same as final enrolment. Admission may still depend on final grades, an English-language result or additional documents.
• Deposits are not always refundable. Refund policies differ by university and intake and should be checked before payment.
• University admission does not automatically guarantee a student residence visa. Immigration approval is a separate process.
• Tuition is only part of the budget. Students may also need to pay for accommodation, insurance, residence formalities, Emirates ID, transport, books and course-specific fees.
• Degree recognition should be checked before enrolment. This is especially important if the student plans to work in a regulated profession or use the qualification in another country.
